Many conditions that are seemingly unrelated such as asthma, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, allergies, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, etc., have one common denominator…inflammation. You can reduce inflammation and significantly improve symptoms of many conditions by adopting an anti-inflammatory, plant-rich Clean Cuisine diet based on nutrient-dense and unrefined whole foods.

However, you can take things to the next level by incorporating certain natural detox steps that further assist your body in removing toxins.  You want to rid your body of toxins because toxins promote the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which can exacerbate the symptoms of many inflammatory conditions. Toxins also generate the formation of free radicals. Free radicals do terrible damage because they accelerate the aging process and create further inflammation, causing a vicious inflammatory-toxic and free radical cycle which will have you looking and feeling much older than your years

Did You Know Stored Toxins Might Be To Blame for Excess Weight?

Did you know your body stores the vast majority of toxins in fat tissue (although you might not like how it looks, it’s safer there than in your bloodstream!) But, the more body fat you have the more toxins you are also storing.

Even worse, once you accumulate toxins in your fat cells your body doesn’t want to let go of them. This is because letting toxins loose and allowing them to run amok throughout your body is less desirable than having them stored “safely” in your fat cells.

But, sometimes the toxins do get loose, and when this happens they can slow down your metabolism. A study published in Obesity Reviews (1) concluded that during weight loss pesticides (organocholorines) and PCB’s (from industrial pollution) are released from fat tissue where they are typically stored. These toxins can pollute your metabolism and make additional weight loss challenging. Another study found individuals who released the most pesticides from their fat stores during weight loss had the slowest metabolisms after weight loss (2).

Additional studies suggest toxin release during weight loss can interfere with thyroid function and inhibit mitochodrial function, which can disrupt your metabolic rate and reduce your ability to burn fat and calories. But, there is light at the end of the tunnel; if you have excess fat to lose you can take simple steps to detoxify and simultaneously provide your body with the essential nutrients it needs to assist in the natural toxin elimination process and thus help prevent metabolic dysfunction.

Extreme Detox and Body Cleansing Programs Are NOT Necessary & NOT Safe

We absolutely do not support extreme detox programs (such as fasting, colonics, celebrity-driven detox diets like the “Master Cleanse”, etc.) Not only are such extreme detox methods unnecessary, they are ineffective and can potentially cause serious stress and harm to your body. As a surgeon Andy can assure you that your colon does not need “flushing” unless you are prepping for a medical procedure like a colonoscopy (a colonic can disrupt your body’s natural fluid and electrolyte  balance and lead to dehydration and even infection—and if you end up with an infected colon you will have a REAL problem!) If you embark on an extreme detox fast or diet you can end up prematurely aging yourself due to loss of lean muscle mass and inadequate nourishment (not exactly the desired effect!)

In fact, a sure sign that a detox program is not healthy is if you feel sick, tired or depleted while doing it.  If you think about it, if your cells are constantly regenerating then how in the world are you going to build a stronger, younger and healthier body if you aren’t providing your body with the nutrients and raw materials it needs to do so? Simply flushing your system out and depleting your body of nutrients is just not logical. Rest assured, our “Clean Cuisine Natural Detox” does not involve anything unpleasant or depleting.
