Frosting without Inflammatory Ingredients

We all know most frosting is nothing more than a mix of refined-sugar, milk, and butter…if you’re lucky! Most frosting’s also include natural and artificial flavors, dyes, and many more unnecessary ingredients. Yikes. All-in-all, frosting doesn’t usually fit the description of a health food.

Luckily, our frosting is made with only 4 simple ingredients, making it a much healthier option. Should you eat it by the tub full? We don’t suggest it. However, compared to most frosting options, this recipe is definitely the way to go!

With such few ingredients, and zero cook time, you can whip this Frosting Chocolate Recipe up in less than 5 minutes. It’s seriously that easy!

How to Make Frosting Chocolate Recipe

Like mentioned above, this easy recipe includes only 4 ingredients, and takes less than 5 minutes of your time to whip up. This may just become your new go-to! So what are the ingredients to this chocolatey recipe?

Palm Shortening

While we’re not suggesting you eat palm shortening by the gallon as a superfood, it’s a creamy butter replacement for those of us avoiding dairy! Easy to use in baking, and neutral in flavor, palm shortening is the perfect trans fat free swap for traditional shortening, and can be a helpful dairy replacement in baking. This is one of those options we consider a healthier choice to use in moderation.

Cacao Powder

Cacao (instead of cocoa) is a highly nutrient-dense superfood! Raw cacao has up to four times the antioxidants of cacao powder, giving it a 95,000 ORAC value score per 100gms. So if you’ve ever been taught that chocolate is a junk food, think again! With raw cacao and zero refined-sugar, cacao can be a huge asset to your diet!

Following the AIP? Swap cacao for carob!

Maple Syrup

Here at Clean Cuisine, we opt for natural sweeteners (those with nutrients) instead of empty calorie, refined ones. Maple syrup is a great natural sweetener with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals to offer!

Vanilla Extract

A great way to bring out the rich flavor in a recipe, vanilla extract is a staple for any kitchen! Just a tiny bit really makes the chocolate in this frosting pop!

Tasty Additions

Our Frosting Chocolate Recipe is a traditionally flavored, versatile frosting to top any dessert. However, it can easily be personalized with a few easy additions to better fit personal preference, seasonal recipes, and more!

Peppermint Extract: Just a bit of peppermint oil to taste can get this chocolatey frosting ready for the holiday season!

Citrus Extract: Just like peppermint extract, you can add citrus extract your chocolate frosting for a bit of customization! We love adding orange extract!

Coffee: Adding a bit of brewed coffee (we recommend a few tablespoons of espresso for extra flavor) can really add a depth to chocolate frosting that is delicious on so many different types of desserts!

More, or Less Sweetener: Enjoy a more bitter or sweeter frosting? Experiment around with the amount of maple syrup you add! You can also swap maple for honey if you prefer!

While these are just a few of our favorite suggestions, feel free to be creative, and modify your Frosting Chocolate Recipe to your personal preferences!
