Hi Ivy and Dr. Larson,

I would value your opinion on Suntheanine L Theanine. I have some friends who feel better taking this and as someone battling anxiety and depression for many years I would be thrilled to be able to get help with the concentration and brain fog this supplement mentions and friends are so happy to have relief from. I would appreciate any comment you have on this, I have a bottle on the way. Love all your recipes and suggestions. I have a 5 year old granddaughter who was born at 27 weeks with the worst prognosis and organic foods and her love of Kefir has her off all medication and no long term effects except from her premature retinopathy surgery which caused cataracts and their removal with no lenses put in until she is older is a problem she will have until she is older. Thanks for listening, God Bless

Comment on Foods Containing Prebiotics and Probiotics by J.Patrick

With my 70th birthday coming up next month (May), I can hardly believe I've never heard of perbiotics until today (April 28). This year I've been focusing on the health of my digestive tract because it wasn't able to handle all the raw vegetables I was consuming, very well, that is.

Now that I've learned to make my own non-dairy coconut yogurt from fresh raw coconutswhich I eat twice a day, after only a week or so, I've noticed a wonderful change in just the way my gut feels. I've also noticed a great improvement in the absorption of nutrients, especially minerals. (I had been deficient in magnesium which caused what I call an "electrical" problem). I had solved that a few years ago when I started rubbing magnesium oil on after my shower.

Fortunately, I am able to absorb magnesium and other minerals from organic vegetables and fruits because of my enriched probiotics (coconut yogurt). I also noted considerable improvement in absorption of the few supplements I use and benefit from.

Like I've pointed out, I didn't know what a prebiotic was 'til today. However, it is clear that I had already been consuming ample prebiotics, I just didn't know what a prebiotic was. With sufficient probiotics, my gut can already excellently handle all the prebiotics I can throw into it.

I'm getting ready to make my own natto, the Japanese fermented soybean food. Despite the suggestions that natto may be considered less than savory to many, I don't care. I'm convinced the cardiac benefits alone will prove worth the price of admission. After all heart disease is the number one cause of death in Western, so-called civilization.

After natto, I'll move into culturing various vegetables to include in my everyday diet. I feel a bit of trepidation about doing the natto, but I can hardly wait to probiotic pickled vegetables. I'm amazed by the amount of information available on this topic via the internet!

I agree with the idea that cultured foods might well become increasingly popular with those of us concerned with quality of lifestyle and longevity.

I'm new to your site. This was my first recipe to try. When I tasted it to see if I needed to add another date, I didn't think I liked it, but after I gave it a fair try, I enjoyed it! I am trying to cut back on the sweetness level of things I make, so this taste definitely goes along with that. (I'm a sugar addict!) I have been so impressed with substituting dates in baked goods. It's still sugar, but so much better than the white stuff.

I'm loving your site! Thanks!

I love this recipe! I used to make it when I didn't have a bread/pizza maker. Now that I do, are there any special instructions on how to do it? Thanks!
